What's It Worth, Mary?

Meanwhile, back at Charterstone....

For new readers, an explanation:

I've been spoofing the cartoon strip of Mary Worth for some time now. In the real strip, she took in her alcoholic friend, Rita, who then proceeded to trash Mary's house and life. I thought it might be funny if Mary tried to pimp her friend out into her staid community. You'll have to go back into the archives to pick up the story line, but the last entry was on September 5th, which you will find in the archives, and earlier entries during August, 2005.

Note: The Blogathon continues. I'm up to the letter "J."

Your MWorth art is original and desvasting. I'll endorse Dave ee's comment. The "Lance Armstrong of blogs," -- that's accurate.

I'm holding my breath ... who will Rita "date" first? What will happen if Rita takes a little drinkie to quell her nerves? Where will the assignation take place (surely not Mary's tidy home)?

Good luck navigating the blogosphere.

HAH@A nip to calm the nerves, Anon.

If anything, ol' Mary would be smart enough to capitalize on Rita's addictive personality. A little bit of opium, maybe some crack?

HAHAHAHAHA I love this storyline -- I happened to read it in the paper when the lady dropped the bottle on the kitchen floor. Classic. I never thought I'd be seeking out Mary Worth, but dammit, I am.

Yay! More Mary Worth and a future "John" for Rita. Hee hee

I'm personally also waiting with (slightly) baited breath for the 'R' edition drink-of-the-week.

Wedding tent decoration? What the hell is that? Anyway, I love the Mary Worth spoof. Several years ago I was fascinated by a Rex Morgan MD storyline about heroin. The language was so stilted and "afterschool special" hip. I still have the clippings.

Speaking of spoofing old school stuff, have you seen the comcast cable commercial with Loretta Swit. Awesome stuff.

This is beautiful. I'm going to have to back and read from your archives now. I've often wondered how Mary Worth and Mark Trail and Co. continue to be published. This would be a helluva way to go...
